1. Dehydration

Some people are simply predisposed to feeling lightheaded or even fainting when they get hot and sweaty and lose too much fluid. Without enough fluids, the volume of your blood goes down, lowering your blood pressure and keeping your brain from getting enough blood, causing lightheadedness.


2. Drug side effects

Almost all medications list lightheaded as a possible side effect, but it is more common with some types of medicines. Some major medications includes – Blood pressure medications, diuretics, sedatives, tranquilizers, antidepressants, pain relievers, and some antibiotics.


3. Low Blood Pressure

Generally, when the top number of your blood pressure is below 100 and the bottom number is below 60, you are considered to have low blood pressure. For people whose bp readings are consistently in this range, it’s not a problem. But if your blood pressure drops, you may experience lightheaded.


4. Low blood sugar

When you don’t have enough blood sugar, every system in your body goes on reserve to use as little energy as possible, including your brain, making you feel lightheaded or confused.


5. Heart attack and stroke

At its most serious, lightheadedness may be a sign of a heart attack or stroke. Other symptoms of a heart attack often accompanying lightheadedness are chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, arm pain, back pain, or jaw pain.
