4. Horseshoe Crab Blood ($15,850 per liter)
The blood of horseshoe crabs is used and harvested in high quantities today to test that a wide range of medical products are not contaminated. Extracting the blood of the horseshoe crab involves catching and ‘bleeding’ the animals, after which they are released. Their blood does not contain haemoglobin, but instead has hemocyanin, which makes the color of their blood blue.
3. Lysergic Acid Diethylamide LSD ($32,500 per liter)
It was one of the most popular drugs back in the 60s and 70s and was often used by hippies. It is known to have caused the user to ‘trip’ and have hallucinations. It is commonly synthesized by reacting diethyl amine with lysergic acid. Jut a gallon of LSD would be enough to send about 55,000 people on the trip of their lifetime.
